Dear Colleagues,
The Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine will be holding a 3-Day Workshop on
Evidence-Based Practice 7th - 9th April 2008 at St. Anne's College, Oxford.
The Workshop is intended to serve as an introduction to evidence-based
practice. It is aimed at clinicians and other health care professionals
(including those involved in the field of mental health) who wish to gain
knowledge of critical appraisal and experience in the practice of
evidence-based health care.
Workshop Aims
After the workshop, participants should be able to:
1. formulate answerable questions
2. search effectively for evidence
3. critically appraise evidence about treatment, prognosis, diagnosis and
aetiology for its validity and applicability
4. understand basic measures of efficacy such as numbers needed to treat and
likelihood ratios
5. understand the basics of decision analysis, guidelines and cost
effectiveness analysis.
