Hi James, all
We are using Joomla! CMS to do just what you are talking about, and will
be using it in our upcoming exhibition for the online project of Sea
Your History. We will be using standalone versions, not connected to the
internet, for browsing the oral history collection and the 15,000 images
we have amassed for the project.
I would highly recommend Joomla! particularly since it has matured into
the 1.5 stable version. http://www.joomla.org

Subject: Using a CMS in an orientation gallery/knowledge zone
Dear All,
I'm working on developing a new IT system for a museum on the South
coast.
We are looking at using a content management system (specifically Plone)
as an intranet and 'knowledge zone' in the orientation gallery for
visitors.
For example; vistors can search for articles, videos, or pictures about
the Museum and its collections.
I was wondering if any other museums have tried to use a CMS in this way
for visitors. If so, what problems did they find, and more importantly,
was it successful?
Regards,
James
