No, I would rather say the statement about SL4 is a bit misleading.
Ideally pure SL4 + gLite/VDT middleware would be enough, but unfortunately
we also need packages that are provided by other projects.
In the past we imported such packages into the middleware repositories,
which has nice advantages, but also an important drawback: it brings
responsibility for security and other critical updates.
