I notice that there's now been an official call for participants on the -announce list. There's one thing that puzzles me, it always seems to be assumed that if you're going to run Shib on Windows then you'll use AD too:
"The aim of the project is to encourage users with windows platform and Active Directory to participate in the federation"
This might often be the case, but is it really relevant whether you're using AD or any other directory? (Or a database for that matter) You'll be using LDAP anyway to communicate with AD and the settings in Tomcats server.xml and in Shibs resolver.xml for the JNDI connector aren't really much different whichever breed of LDAP is used?
Shouldn't the aim of the project be "to encourage users with the windows platform to participate in the federation" with AD or SunOne or eDirectory or an oracle database if you insist? :-)
Well done to all involved in getting this going (Rod et al), it can only be a good thing - I wouldn't mind trying it out myself even though I'm deploying our production boxes with SLES. Does it have to be on a server or will it install on a desktop XP machine?
Cheers
Andy
