Nature of work
The post will be based within our client's small development team and will
be a combination of development on their existing product range, along with
the opportunity to work on one-off, bespoke developments. The general
approach is to employ rapid application development (RAD) techniques, so
that through the production of prototypes we quickly converge towards
solutions that are both acceptable to the client and technically feasible
for the developers
The successful applicant will be expected to:
Undertake complete life cycle project management of software development
projects
Work closely with clients to develop software functionality specifications
Use rapid application development approach to quickly bring products to
market
Provide occasional 2nd tier support to their product consultants – whom
themselves have high levels of IT expertise
Location
The post will be based in mid Wales. Occasional visits to client sites
across the UK will be required.If you enjoy outdoor pursuits eg. Mountain
Biking,Hiking,Orienteering this could be the ultimate location for you,
Person specification
Essential:
Extensive knowledge and experience (2 years plus) in at least 3 of the
following:
HTML / Web page development
SQL Server
Visual Basic
.NET
ASP.NET
Java Script
ArcObjects
MapBasic
Experience of a variety of operating systems
Confident presentational skills
Self-organised and motivated
Driving licence
Project Management
Desirable:
Knowledge and experience in any of the following:
Microsoft Access
Crystal Reports
Pocket PC application development
Web Server configuration and administration
Web page design and building
Oracle
XML/XSLT
W3C standards and web accessibility
MapServer
Google Maps / Virtual Earth / OpenLayers
Graduate / post-graduate qualifications in an environmental or IT
discipline
Previous experience of providing consultancy services to the public or
private sector
Client facing skills
Salary from £27,000 to £40,000 (Dependant on experience)
