Dear Geometamorphism folk,
We draw to your attention to the following Metamorphic sessions at the
33rd IGC Oslo, Norway. The descriptions given along with each of these
sessions are indicative only - if you have a contribution to make that
lies within the broad field of metamorphism then submit it!
METAMORPHIC PETROLOGY
MPN-01 General contributions to metamorphic petrology
(William Carlson, Simon L. Harley)
This symposium is designed to facilitate contributions on any aspect
of metamorphic petrology and its applications. It will include new
areas of investigation and themes arising from but not specific to the
more specialized symposia, such as those devoted to UHT metamorphism,
migmatites and granites, geochronology of metamorphism, and
metamorphism through time and space. If you wish to present a novel
application or example of metamorphic analysis, or a new development
in techniques applied to metamorphic rocks, this is the symposium for
you!
MPN-02 Metamorphism and metamorphic processes
(Simon L. Harley, Leif Johansson, Håkon Austrheim, Erling Krogh Ravna)
This symposium is designed to facilitate contributions that focus on
developments in our understanding of metamorphic processes on all
scales, from recrystallisation, reaction and diffusion, to
fluid-mineral-melt interactions, metamorphism-deformation relations,
and metamorphism in orogeny. As in MPN-01, this symposium will present
contributions that include new areas of investigation and themes
arising from but not specific to the more specialized symposia, such
as those devoted to UHT metamorphism, migmatites and granites,
geochronology of metamorphism, and metamorphism within the context of
Gondwana.
Deadline for abstract submission and payment of the abstract fee is
now 29 February 2008 (reduced abstract fee extends to January 1
2008). In order for inclusion of an accepted abstract into the program
you must have registered and paid all fees within 31 March 2008.
