Dear all
Latest news from the CRB regarding fees
Rob
Dear All
Fees for criminal record checks have been frozen for the second year
running. The Criminal Records Bureau, CRB, is able to freeze its fees as
a direct result of year-on-year efficiency savings and increasing demand
for its service.
Over the last 12 months, the CRB has made significant improvements to
its service delivery and has continued to make internal efficiency
savings to keep the cost of a Disclosure to a minimum.
In 2007/08 the CRB:
Upgraded its online Tracking Service, allowing applicants and those
organisations registered with the CRB to track the progress of all their
applications for the first time, providing greater visibility of the
process;
Added more Data Sources to its PLX database giving the CRB a wider range
of information that can be searched as part of a CRB check;
Continued to streamline the Registered Body network; and
Increased customer satisfaction rates to an all-time high.
Home Office Minister Meg Hiller said:
"The CRB plays a vital role helping to protect the most vulnerable in
our society by giving employers the extra tools they need to make
informed recruitment decisions. The cost of a CRB check now represents
even greater value for money given the protection and assurance that
such checks provide."
CRB Chief Executive Vince Gaskell said:
"During 2007/08, we launched new services and made enhancements to our
current ones bringing real benefits to our customers. All of this has
been achieved without the need to increase the fees, representing a
reduction in real terms in the cost of a CRB check. Over the next twelve
months the CRB will continue to enhance its existing service and invest
in new services to ensure that the CRB continues to deliver a
first-class public service. "
Fees for 2007/2008:
Standard CRB check £31.00
Enhanced CRB check £36.00
POVAFirst check £6.00

In 2007, the CRB issued its 15 millionth disclosure and is currently
issuing about 275,000 Disclosures a month. Demand is continually
increasing: In 2002/3 1.5 million Disclosures were issued whilst in
2006/7, 3.2 million were issued.

Sandra
