Registration is still open for the following one-day conference,
organised by the UK Higher Education Academy Subject Centre for
Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies (LLAS) and the English Subject
Centre:
*Texts in Translation*
Date: 31st January 2008
Venue: University of Sheffield, UK
Of interest to colleagues from Modern Languages and English Studies in
particular, this event will focus on issues relating to teaching
literary texts in translation, including: the pros and cons of
teaching literature in translation; using translations as a tool to
open up literary study; translations of literary and cultural theory;
the use of electronic texts; and modern translations of medieval
texts. We hope that the day will result in the sharing of positive
approaches to teaching with translations, and ideas for the
development of literature curricula.
