I tihnk tHAT like Peter RIley, one cannot really detach one's self from
the exterior in writing or indeed anything else. In my experience of
writing, everything is always context based - form, visual, thw rods you
choose over others...
There is no seperation between the external and internal, even when one
tries to create the seperation - because even that becomes a context-
influenced decision. You are then attempting to create a thing without a
context - which is its context!
As to the point made regarding whether or not we can allow all aspects of
the world to permeate a poem all at once - the aesthetic, the political,
the social, the romantic and so on and so forth - I think you can probably
try to, altho' it is better perhaps to create a sense of the atmospheres
and flavours of these things as they are viewed through your subjctive
self rather than attempting a world-view based on a more general
consensus, itself made up of little more than fragmented subjective
opinions....
