Call for Papers:
Art Libraries
The programme of the Art Libraries Section is planned under the general
theme:

"Libraries without borders: Navigating towards global understanding"

The Art Libraries Section is pleased to announce its intention to hold
a 2-hour session during the General Conference on the theme
Advancing Cultural and Social Diversity through Global Partnerships :
The
Art Library's Role in a World without Borders
IFLA's Art Libraries Section invites you to submit an abstract for a
presentation on this theme for its Open Session at the World Library and
Information Congress: 74th IFLA General Conference
and Council to be held 10-14 August 2008, Quebec, Canada
(http://www.ifla.org/IV/ifla74/index.htm)

The aspects of the general topic could be:

- partnerships across the art domain

- art libraries and cultural networks

 - working with other institutions to increase the relevance of
libraries in the modern world. Specifically on libraries and other
cultural partners - the active advocates of the ideas of cultural and
social diversity.

The words "The Art Libraries' Role in a World without Borders" should
not necessarily mean digital world and the activity of the art libraries
in the cyber space.

For further interactive discussion of the practical issues related to
the up-mentioned theme the Art Libraries Section is pleased to announce
its intention to hold an off-site workshop during the conference on the
theme

"Objects and projects : art libraries developing partnerships and tools
towards sharing knowledge/a better understanding/ discovering common
treasures"

One of the topics for presentations at the workshop could be:

"Towards a cartography of the web in art history"

Proposals for possible new collaborative projects for the Art
Libraries Section are most welcome at the workshop.
