Apologies for the short notice, but colleagues may nevertheless be
interested to know of this talk by Barry Sheerman, MP, Chair of the
Education and Skills Select Committee, which will address the importance of
teaching young people about heritage in terms of the benefits for
citizenship and how to make the lessons of history current and applicable
to today’s education. There will also be opportunity for questions and
discussion, and it would be great to have attendees with a particular
interest in archives and learning present. The event will also feature a
display of material from the RSA’s own archives and examples of citizenship
packs from other archives and related material.
Attendance is free: for further information and to book, please see
http://www.thersa.org/events/detail.asp?eventID=2468. The lecture will also
be available on the RSA website as an mp3 audio file a couple of days after
the event.
