Assistant Records Manager & Archivist

£26,000 - £28,000 p.a.

The Natural History Museum is one of the world’s leading museums,
internationally recognised for its dual role as a centre of excellence in
scientific research and as a leading exponent in the presentation of
natural history to the general public through exhibitions, public
programmes and the web.
Reporting to the Museum Archivist and Records Manager, you will assist in
taking forward and administering the records management service by
continuing the work begun by the Records Management Implementation
Project. This will include undertaking the effective implementation and
review of retention schedules, and working with staff to encourage and
develop best practice. You will also assist with providing an Archives
service to staff and to the public, undertaking enquiry work, cataloguing
and other archives management tasks as required.
With a postgraduate qualification in archives and records management, you
will have had previous experience in an archives or records management
post. Computer literacy, good communication and organisational skills,
accuracy and attention to detail are all important. Self motivated, with
an ability to work on your own initiative, you should demonstrate an
adaptable and flexible approach, and the ability to work in a small team.
Previous experience of CALM, implementing file plans and retention
schedules and some project management would be desirable.
