Principal Statistician: Plant Science (Dundee)
BioSS has an international reputation as a specialist organisation
delivering high-quality consultancy, training and research in
statistics, mathematical modelling and bioinformatics. With over 30
staff at four different locations, BioSS offers a stimulating and
supportive working environment for the development and application of
modern quantitative methods.
This post will lead a small team of BioSS staff at SCRI, collaborating
with scientists to ensure the statistical rigour of their research, and
contributing to BioSS research on statistical bioinformatics. SCRI is
Scotland's leading Institute for research on plants and their
interactions with the environment, works at the forefront of modern
technology and so generates a challenging range of quantitative
problems. The post will also contribute actively to the management and
development of BioSS as a distributed organisation with a wide portfolio
of research and application areas.
Starting salary will be in the range £36.5K - £41.8K (pay award
pending), plus contributory public sector pension
Applicants must have at least six years experience of collaboration with
scientists and innovation in the application of modern statistical
methods, substantiated by a good record of applied research
publications. Experience of staff and project management would be a
distinct advantage.
