TWO Ph.D GRANTS IN STATISTICS

Both Ph.D fellowships offered are three year appointments. Applicants
should have a Master of Science degree in statistics, actuarial
sciences, mathematics, computer science, or equivalent. This degree must
be obtained before the appointment is made. The ideal candidate has some
experience in methodological and/or applied statistics, and an
outstanding potential and genuine interest to develop statistical
methodology aimed to innovation. The research project will be defined
together with the candidate and the supervising team, including staff
from the University of Oslo and the other partners in the centre. The
positions will be at one of the participating departments: Mathematics,
Computer Science, Basic Medical Research or Norwegian Computing Centre
(NR), all located, together with the centre’s headquarter, on the campus
of the University of Oslo. The successful candidates will join a very
active scientific group conducting research in statistical methods
directly relevant to innovation in one of the four sectors, marine,
health, finance and insurance, petroleum. Active research areas include
biostatistics, statistical genomics, geostatistics, simulation based
inference, Bayesian methods, rare events, complex models, huge datasets,
data integration, event history analysis, among others.

Salary: ca. 41000-44000 Euro annually according to qualifications.
