This new post offers an opportunity to work in a large, dynamic research group with an established reputation in medical statistics. You will also benefit from working with leading experts in the field of epidemiology and biostatistics. You will conduct research into heart disease using a nationwide study of acute coronary syndromes. Methods will take account of missing data to identify examples of good clinical practice, and ensure fair comparison across health care providers. This pioneering work of international importance is funded by a major grant from the British Heart Foundation (BHF). You will publish in leading journals and be a key part of a large team of epidemiologists and statisticians.
You will be familiar with a range of statistical software packages such as Stata or R / S-Plus. You will preferably have experience in the statistical modelling of observational studies in health research. An MSc or PhD in applied statistics or equivalent experience, and an existing publication record in a relevant area, are desirable for Research Assistant and essential for Research Fellow. Additional training, guidance and mentoring will be given appropriate to your grade and personal skills. The post is available immediately for a fixed term of three years.
University Grade 6 (22,332 pounds - 26,666 pounds p.a.) or 7 (27,466 pounds - 32,796 pounds p.a.) depending on qualifications and relevant experience
