Dear Colleague
There are still a few spaces available on the following workshops that Netskills will be delivering at the Shoreditch Building, London Metropolitan University, please note that these workshops replace those previously scheduled to run on the same dates at Birkbeck College, University of London:
1. Databases on the Web, 6th February 2008
-----------------------------------------------------
Being able to integrate database technology with the provision of web content is now a common expectation for web site developers. Harnessing these techniques can improve the management, maintenance and scalability of your web sites. This practical workshop teaches you the skills needed to provide web access to existing databases - enabling you to start developing web sites using database-managed content with confidence.
2. Exploring XML, 7th February 2008
-----------------------------------------------------
XML is integral to an increasing number of applications, both on and off-line. Much more than simply "making up your own tags", XML provides a flexible, standards-compliant, format for structuring and processing data - including web page content.
All XML documents conform to a simple framework of rules, however complex the application. The key to getting started is to understand these rules, along with how some of the core XML technologies such as XLST and XPath operate.
