Good Morning,
I typically work in continuous flow simulation (system dynamics). I have
a project where I may want to integrate agent-based simulation (about
which I know close to very little).
In SD it is possible, for example, to show pressure (of something)
building over time, and at a given point behavior elsewhere in the model
will change according to some policy, such as "If Pressure < X then Run
Slow else Run Fast". Pressure might take a goal seeking curve, and "S"
curve, an exponential curve, or an oscillatory curve. The pressure
itself might be the amount of "Y" that is available, the aggregate
fraction of people infected (in an epidemic), etc.
Is this a dimension of modeling that is considered in agent-based, and
how is that handled? (Please answer conceptually, I wouldn't understand
much more than that at this point.)
Many thanks,
Bill Braun
