LECTURER IN GERMAN AND INTERPRETING
GRADE: 7 or 8 (depending on experience)
SALARY: £30,012 - £32,796 (Grade 7)
£33,779 - £40,335 (Grade 8)
Fixed-term contract of 2 years
The School is at the forefront of applied language courses and offers
specialisms in Translating and Interpreting at undergraduate and
postgraduate levels. The person appointed will play a leading role in the
teaching of German interpreting on the MA and BA degree programmes. The
lecturer will also contribute to language teaching, including translation
into German, and, if appropriate, aspects of German culture and society.
The successful applicant will have a native-speaker command of German;
qualifications and experience in interpreting and/or of teaching
interpreting at degree level. Recent contact with a German-speaking
country is essential, as is familiarity with fields with which practising
interpreters engage. We further intend the appointment to enhance our
research profile in translation and interpreting studies or a relevant
area of applied linguistics and our capacity to supervise PhD students in
these areas.
