HSBC Holdings plc: Archives assistant
We are looking for a temporary assistant to help in the day-to-day running
of the Archives service at HSBC. You will assist the archivists in a wide
range of duties and provide administrative support to the team whilst the
secretary is seconded to a separate project. You must be prepared to split
your time between the HSBC head office in Canary Wharf and the offsite
archives store in Bromley-by-Bow.
At the head office you will be helping to answer internal and external
enquiries; taking part in outreach work; carrying out improvements to
catalogue data and providing administrative support.
At the offsite archives store you will be supervising the searchroom and
retrieving records for researchers; helping to accession and catalogue new
material; carrying out re-packaging tasks on some of the collections and
assisting with the migration of oral history tapes to new media.
The post will start as soon as possible in the new year and last for at
least six months. Applicants should be enthusiastic, adaptable, able to
work with a minimum of supervision and happy to work at both archives
sites. This post would suit someone looking for pre-course experience and
salary will be £18, 500 pro rata.
