Jason,
We've had a wonderful experience with Bioscribe, made by a company
called Vivalog (http://www.vivalog.com/bioscribe.html). Data can be sent
over a standard DICOM connection to the database, which then automatically
imports studies into appropriate "projects." Users control who has access to
data in each project. The interface is https, so its secure. Additional
data, including binary data, scripts, publications, scanned forms or
anything else you can think of, is securely uploaded using your web browser
(also secure) or conveniently over secure WebDav.
The web interface allows access to secure data upload/download for
single or multisite trials. The server model makes it easy for us to meet
our other institutional requirements, such as physical security, offsite
backups and RAID storage. Obviously a single server is far easier to keep
administratively secure than multiple individual storage systems or CDs that
can be easily misplaced or stolen.
Sorry to sound like an advertisement, but the system has saved
enormous amounts of time at our site, easily paying for itself many times
over. Anyone interested in a demo can feel free to contact me offline or
contact Vivalog directly.
Best
KC Stegbauer

Subject: [FSL] Database all MRI and NeuroPsych data
Hello all.
I hope that all have had a safe and great new years.
I am looking for advice and maybe to start a conversation on the
organization of data. I am wondering what methods other labs use to organize
and provide an efficient means of searching a large database which contains:
MRIs/Neuropsych/Demographics.
I am just wondering what means people use to organize MRI data, organize by
study, by subject, etc... Then what means to database the neuropsych and
demographics so that they are easily linked to the MRI data.
We have something in place but as we grow I am looking for a more efficient
setup.
Thank you for any tips and advice.
Jason.
