Hi There,
Yeah not sure what the issue with SPM is but an alternative is to use
the MRIcro "convert foreign to analyze" function under the import tab.
The help button should explain any other details you want to learn.
With the auto detect mosaics selected it worked fine for me.

Subject: [SPM] convert dicom using spm
Hi, SPM experts,
I failed to convert the dicom into analyze imgage format using
dicom
tool in SPM2 or SPM5. I do not know what is wrong with it. Our data were
obtained using 1.5 T siemens advanto in coronal section with BOLD fMRI
for
the dog's brain. Please find an attached dicom imaging file. Any
suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
