Hi Susan
A few years back now when I was working for a private hospital only 14 hours a
week, I was faced with the same problem to administer Heb B but often not
there.
The hospital had a permanent Dr on site I approached him, spoke to the
nurses in
OPD and asked if any of them would be happy to administer Hep B with a
patient group direction for the supply and administration. It worked well as
about 4 of them who worked shifts were happy to assist, and they had
training, and the PGD was reviewed annually with them. I also managed to
get the
phlebotomist on board to take the bloods for the titre levels, and the
process
was auditable under ISO (can't remember the number now)
I managed the process and seemed to work well. So don't see any reason why you
can't do the same.
Cheers
Clare
