David McCarthy is Reader in Human Nutrition at the Institute for Health
Research and Policy at London Metropolitan University. His research
interests include: Development of references for body composition in UK
children; Children's body fatness in regional and ethnic subgroups in the
UK; Markers of upper body fatness in children'; Application of air
displacement plethysmography in body composition measurement'; Energy
expenditure in obese children'; Use of bioelectrical impedance for
assessing upper body fatness'; Body composition and risk factors for Type 2
diabetes in children.
The Community Research Network is a forum for health researchers,
practitioners, community workers and the public to discuss and get support
for research projects in an informal environment. Meetings are aimed at
creating a network of participants interested in research and action on
health-related issues in East London. Meetings are funded by SUMEHR and
chaired by John Eversley (London Metropolitan & City University)
Meetings are open to the public, free of charge and all are welcome. If you
