Sarah,
The attachment did not copy through to me, but no matter.
I belong also to the ITT group and have had no mailing at all from them
other than a request to referee, so I hope that the new arrangment would
enable there to continue to be a live use of the mailings. If so, that's
fine by me
Peter

Dear All
First and foremost... Very best wishes for the Christmas and New Year
Season!
I received this email yesterday from the CEO at BERA - as I read it this
list would be closed down by BERA and come under BERA's central control
-
I would be interested you hear how you feel about this. I am undecided
yet,
Sarah
Dear Colleagues,
It is proposed that new email discussion lists are created for BERA
SIGs.
Please could you let me know if you would be content with the proposed
titles for the SIG email list relevant to you in the attached document?
This is part of the development work to better support the work of SIGs
and improve the coordination and management of information across BERA.
This will provide a consistent approach using a trusted, reliable and
secure system (the email lists would be provided via the JISCMAIL email
system which already hosts a number of email lists for BERA). The
facility also exists for online discussions and basic surveys.
For coordination and consistency this would mean that any existing
email lists would be closed or archived and members would be migrated to
the equivalent new list.
Please could you indicate:
* Your agreement to the title of the new email list for
your SIG (or
suggestion for an alternative title)
* If you have an existing email list.
* If you do, what it is called and how many members it
has.
The lists would not be introduced immediately but would be set up
during the early part of 2008. Once all membership renewals had been
entered into the BERA database and any preparatory work completed the
lists could then go 'live'.
I welcome your comments on the specific questions above and on the
proposed approach and timescale.
Best wishes,
Jeremy.
