The FOLIO team at ScHARR would like to thank all its course participants
throughout the year and to invite ANY MEMBER of the UK health library community
to participate in its infamous End of Year Competition.
In previous years this often irreverent competition has included such themes as
the Alternative Medical Dictionary (http://scharrlatan.typepad.com/diction.doc)
and the Librarians Songbook (http://scharrlatan.typepad.com/Songbook.doc). This
year in tribute to our erstwhile commissioners, the National Library for Health
we invite your participation in "Specialist Library Dragon's Den"
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
1. Access the full list of Specialist Libraries at:
http://www.library.nhs.uk/specialistlibraries/
2. Choose one or more of the specialist libraries.
3. Invent a one-phrase or one-sentence marketing slogan (the more humorous or
ingenious the better!)
4. Send your entry/entries to [log in to unmask]
5. [Optional: Copy it to this list if you are particularly "proud" of your
effort]
egs.
Eyes and Vision: "The Eyes have it"
Surgery, Theatres & Anaesthesia: "At the Cutting Edge of Knowledge Management"
Trauma and Orthopaedics: "Getting into a flap? We're the right joint for you"
Gastroenterology & Liver Diseases: "The Difficult we'll do right now, the
Impassable will take a little while"
Skin Disorders: "For all your rash decisions"
Neurological Conditions: "Not just Information but MS Information"
We are sure you can do better!
The winning entry will receive a £ 20 book token. All entries must be received
by 5pm (GMT) on Friday 4th January 2008. Only entries relating to a listed NLH
Specialist Library can be accepted. The winning entry will be announced on
Monday 7th January 2008. You may submit as many entries as you like, either
separately or cumulatively.
For your information:
We are pleased to announce that the NLH has commissioned two FOLIO courses for
2008. The first, a re-run of the "Promoting and Marketing Library and
Information Services (ProMISe)", is now fully booked and due to begin on Monday
7th January 2008. The second, starting in February 2008, will be a re-run of
"Breaking Out Of The Box: Extending the Health LIS Professional Role
(Breakout)". We are also running FOLIOz Courses for ALIA in Australia
(Understanding the business of clinical care’ (CLINICOS) starts 4 February
2008) and are planning to run our first course for Dutch medical librarians
later in the year.
Best wishes for 2008
