Knowledge for Business

Finding free resources for you and your users
Knowledge is power – sustainable businesses come from being able to exploit
this potential. Businesses that can capitalise and create new knowledge
hold a competitive edge over their competitors.

As business professionals we are always looking for free and accessible
business information for our clients – whether they are students,
researchers, small businesses or public enquiries.

Knowledge for Business is London’s first event which draws together many
different providers of this information. We will encompass both physical
and virtual collections and provide networking opportunities with a wide
range of business professionals.

Neil Infield of the British Library and Goretti Considine of The City
Business Library will speak about the collections and services that are
available to support librarians, businesses and researchers.

Angela Joyce of Intute will talking about Intute's Business and Management
section, plus the new tutorial, Internet Business Manager. There will be
time for a hands-on session for participants.

Kevin Saunders of the Chartered Management Institute will explain how the
Institute delivers a wide range of practical information services, both on
and off-line, to support the needs of practising managers and those
studying for a management qualification.

There will also be an opportunity to view various business publications
from leading publishers and to tour the brand new Docklands Campus Library.

The conference will take place at the University of East London’s Docklands
Campus. Located on the waterfront of the Royal Albert Dock, the campus was
shortlisted for the Building of the Year in 2001 and is now expanding with
a new Business School, Library and Learning Centre, Knowledge Dock and
Institute for Performing Arts Development, and is home to the London East
Research Institute.

Post Office pensions schemes). During his time at Hermes he developed the
BIS far beyond its traditional library services.

He has been active in SLA Europe for over 15 years. Having previously been
President, he now edits their newsletter and manages the website.

Goretti Considine: City Business Library
Goretti is the Business Librarian at the City Business Library, one of the
leading business information libraries in the country.
She will be speaking about the major collection of sources of business
information that is held at the library and the support that can be given
to librarians and researchers in accessing this valuable resource.

Angela Joyce: Intute

and Management, and the EuroStudies section. She has a postgraduate diploma
