For a few years we have been aware of the confusing issue of off-campus
access to the full-text of journals via the EBSCO EJS platform (two titles
that spring to mind are "19th Century Music" and "Diversity in Health and
Social Care").
The confusion arises because users can access content on-campus that they
cannot access off-campus, even though they have authenticated to EBSCO EJS
via Athens.
In the case of "19th Century Music", setting up a link direct to the
publisher's website via a proxy server allowed for off-campus access to
the full text, but we can't do this for all EBSCO EJS content.
If EBSCO EJS is Athens-authenticated, shouldn't users have access to the
same content irrespective of their location?
I'd be interested in learning if other's have encountered this situation,
and what they have done about it.
Many thanks.
