JOB PURPOSE:
o Responsible for ensuring that key databases and analytical tools
such as the GIS, National Store Database and analogue models are kept up to
date, with clean data that reconciles to internal and external sources.
o Support the rest of the business by providing solutions for data
requests in an efficient and timely manner.
o Support the Retail Analysis manager in providing accurate, timely
competitor information to the Investment Planning team – forecasting sales
performance for all competitor food retailers annually and delivering
regular, accurate assessments of impacts on our estate from competitor
investments.
o Support the GIS and the integration of MapInfo throughout other
areas of the business – Retail Finance, Online etc.
o Improve the efficiency of processes used within Location Planning
by automating and building models using Visual Basic, SAS and the GIS.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Assist in the delivery of requests from throughout the business
regarding stores, competition, and the physical environment surrounding
stores.
· Update the GIS regularly with “clean”, accurate data. Gain
knowledge of JS data sources, including their strengths and weaknesses, in
order to sense check all data.
· Delivery of competitor maps, demographic reporting and nectar
customer analysis to all store managers.
· Assist in the development of reporting enhancements to improve our
knowledge base and the quality of the analysis going into capital
investment decisions.
· Deliver developments and enhancements to the GIS with the potential
to deliver ongoing improvement in quality and efficiency of sales estimates
and other location based analysis.
· Work with other members of the team to improve the timeliness and
content of information used in Investment Planning. The ability to improve
process through automation using excel/SAS programming.
· Maintain an audit trail of databases and information updates.

Qualifications:
Good degree, ideally in IT, Computer Science, Mathematics, Geography,
Economics or Operational Research.
Maths A-level
