Lecturer in Human Geography

Applications are invited for a six-month fixed-term Lectureship in Human Geography at one of
the UK’s leading Geography Departments. You will undertake replacement teaching in the area of
cultural geography and related fields. The School would especially welcome applications from
candidates with interests in Nature/Society and in particular the Geographies of Nature.
Joining the Economy, Culture and Space (ECS) research theme within the School you will be
expected to develop your personal research within the general research areas of the group.
The post is available for a 6 month fixed term contract, from February 2008 to July 2008.

Research Assistant in Human Geography
Salary: £25,134 (pro rata)

Applications are invited from researchers with interests in geographies of food, animals and/or
agriculture, however candidates with Cultural Geography, Sociology and other cognate disciplines
will be considered.
You will work with Dr Emma Roe from Southampton and Professor Henry Buller from the University
of Exeter on a EU Welfare Quality funded project to study the politics of raising farm animal
welfare standards by Quality Assurance Schemes in the UK and in Europe. You will be expected to
coordinate and participate in research interviews, write reports and research papers. You should
have an excellent proven record in research appropriate to your career stage.
