List members will be interested to know that there are 2 new British Standards currently out for consultation.
They are BS8497-1:2008 Eyewear for protection against intense light sources used on humans and animals for cosmetic and medical applications. Part 1: Specification for products
and BS8497-2:2008 Eyewear for protection against intense light sources used on humans and animals for cosmetic and medical applications. Part 2: User guide
These standards are needed because there is currently no standard for eyewear worn when an IPL is in use.
They will be issued as British Standards because there are no competing standards. This is the quickest route to developing and issuing a standard.
