Hello!
I'm an archaeobotanist interested in wild cereal ecology, as this may
have been an important issue in the emergence of agriculture in the
Old World.
Knowledge about wild cereal ecology may help to learn about the
presence, distribution and evolution of wild cereal populations, and
the process of domestication.
To my surprise I could not find much information on wild cereal
ecology, and most of the information seems to be randomly hidden in
works on genetic diversity etc. Asking colleagues (archaeobotanists,
traditional botanists), they confirmed that there is a lack of
research on this topic.
Thinking about aspects like interbreeding, I cannot imagine that this
is really the case. If I was just browsing the wrong journals, I would
be very thankful for hints on where to look for information.
Thanks in advance!
Simone
