Andy
I am not a medical person, but for what it is worth and with my knowledge of
skin effects I cannot imagine that a drop of just 2 degress could possibly
result in the symptoms you describe, at least not from a purely
physiological view. However, in recent months I have had two cases where
minor changes have resulted in one case of anaphylaxis due to assumed
exposure to latex and another of dermatitis due to assumed exposure to
isocyanates. Investigation showed that in neither case was there such
exposure. Both were purely psychosomatic. This may seem surprising, but
there is an actual European Society of Dermatology and Psychiatry and, if
you look, a considerable body of cases/studies into psychosomatic effects.
In Germany, at Giessen University, there is even a Department of Psychiatric
Dermatology! Prof Gieler has written extensively on this subject. The
anaphylactic effect is sufficiently well known to have a name (idiopathic
somatoform anaphylaxis)!
I have experienced similar rashes when there was a perceived change in the
skin cleanser, when in fact all that had been done was to change the
labelling. Discussion with those affected to explain what had happened did
ultimately resolve the problem. You may find that merely providing the
padded trousers will resolve your problem, since this will be perceived by
those involved as having "dealt with the problem".
Hope this is of some help.
Regards
Chris
