Subject: ITT for the Acquisition of Digital Journal Archive(s) and
Backfile(s) by JISC Collections on Behalf of United Kingdom Further and
Higher Education Institutions and Research Councils
*** Apologies for Cross Posting***
JISC Collections has issued an invitation to tender for the acquisition of
digital journal archive(s) and backfile(s) by JISC Collections on behalf of
United Kingdom Further and Higher Education Institutions and Research
Councils.
This tender invites bids from publishers for digital journal archives and
backfiles to be made available to UK Further and Higher Education
Institutions and Research Councils. The journal(s)archives included in the
offers should be peer reviewed, high quality and of high relevance to the UK
academic community. JISC Collections wishes to license digital journal
archive(s) in perpetuity and bids should include free access to the digital
archive(s) from the publisher's chosen platform for a period of five years.
The deadline for proposals is midday, Monday 18th February 2008.
JISC Collections has licensed a range of journal archives in perpetuity from
publishers and learned societies such as the Royal Society of Chemistry,
Institute of Physics, Institution of Civil Engineers, Oxford University
Press and Internet Archaeology. These agreements have had wide take up and
provided efficiencies of time and money for the UK academic community,
whilst the publishers have benefited from the efficiencies of a single sale,
licensing arrangements at the national level and the increased visibility of
their material as a result of the agreements.
In response to demand from the academic community for further digital
journal archives and a number of offers from publishers for their journal
archives JISC Collections is now issuing a tender to assist the efficient
and transparent acquisition of further digital archives.
For further information and a copy of the Invitatiuon to Tender including
the requirements and award criteria please contact Liam Earney.
Kind regards,
Liam Earney
