Hello,
The following article is the eleventh in a series that analyzes the
UN MDGs at the intersection of culture with economics and technology.
It is argued that the economic development targets of the MDGs
are contingent on cultural adaptations at all levels - global, national,
regional, local. The most fundamental of these adaptations is
to replace patriarchy by gender equity.
It is hard to envision how the MDGs will be achieved unless supported
by social and cultural adaptations. On the other hand, it is possible
that MDG-related activities may serve as a catalyst that will get the
social and cultural adaptations started.
