I wonder if the steady stream of people too lazy/busy/dim to read these
messages before seeking advice on how to "detach themselves" feel like
chumps when they read the answers.
Should there, I wonder, be a community dedicated to the public understanding
of how to behave on electronic mailing lists? After all, no one would
embarrass themselves with asking the same question in public if they wanted
to get off an paper mailing list.
Is there, I add, a research project or two in there? People seem to behave
very differently in the electronic world than they do in "real [first]
life".

Thanks, Jo. You got there before me. As Jo says, the instructions are at
the bottom of every email. You can also leave the list via the web site:

Hi Alison
I think this should work, and I've replied to all in case others want to
detach also...
Scroll to the bottom of any email sent via psci-com, to the psci-com
housekeeping signature,
and note point 3, reproduced below:
3. To leave psci-com, send an email to [log in to unmask] with the
message: leave psci-com
If that still doesn't work, contact Louise Simon at Wellcome and she can
remove you manually,
I think; her email address is: [log in to unmask]
If you just wanted to stop receiving emails temporarily, or switch to
'digest mode', have a look at
this page: http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?SUBED1=psci-com&A=1
Hope that helps :-)
