Public Engagement Advisers (2 posts) - MSH Grants
The Wellcome Trust is the largest charity in the UK. It funds innovative biomedical research, in the UK and internationally, with the aim of improving human and animal health.
Working within the Medicine Society and History Grants department you will be responsible for identifying where the Trust can add value to public engagement projects in your specialist area. Both posts will involve fostering and encouraging projects from the best practitioners in the field and contributing to the strategic direction of the programmes. You will also be the main point of contact for your public engagement community and will provide advice and guidance to applicants, as well as select referees, attend funding committees and ensure the outcomes from projects are captured.
One post will focus on grants in the International and Special Projects area and the other on our Society and Education programmes, you will therefore need to demonstrate:
* International project experience (preferably in developing countries OR experience of the education sector
In addition for both posts you will need to demonstrate:
* a degree and postgraduate qualification in relevant disciplines
* experience in the field of public engagement and science communication
* knowledge of grant giving policies and practices
* excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a proven customer focus
* proven organisational skills with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
This post is offered on a scale from £27,500 p.a. (depending on experience) plus excellent benefits
