To say the least. Not only is it too pretty (Beowulf's
magic is rough) but it shows no awareness of, much
less respect for, the poem as a historical document.
There are real names of real people amongst the
legendary ones in it, and Heaney _changes_ them, for
god's sake--and for no good reason apart from catering
to someone's notion of illiterate undergraduates who
need to have the poem made easier.
