Dear Catherine
Thank you for the VERY sensible notice. I had been considering
withdrawing from the forum because of the spam factor.

As moderator of this eforum, I would entirely agree with Josh. Thanks
to
him for raising this issue again. Whilst it is fine to share notices
of
events or publications, all subsequent communication about attending
those events/receiving those publications should be done 'off forum'.
We
need to keep the forum for discussion (which this forum does very well
and from which we all benefit) and not clog up inboxes.
Thanks
Katharine

Subject: Calm down people!
Hi all,
As the purpose for this Mandarin Chinese Teaching forum is for
us teachers to share resources and discuss teaching and learning
experiences/problems related to the subject, if you wish to have a one
to one communication with anyone on this forum, please may I suggest
you
keep it private? You can do this by replying to the particular person
who sent the original post instead of replying to all. You can find
the
sender's email address at the 'from' bar where it states, for example,
'Mandarin Chinese Teaching [[log in to unmask]]
on
behalf of Zhansheng Xia [[log in to unmask]]'. So you just need to
double click (or if you are old fashioned copy and paste) the email
address into your 'address to' bar and send your message to the person
you wish to communicate with.
Sorry if I am being rude, it's just not fun to have your
Outlook
jammed full with hundreds of irrelevant emails after half-term!
Regards,
Josh
