Course description
This course for school librarians and subject teachers will explore the
meaning and importance of information literacy and identify practical
strategies for supporting it through the library.
Expected learning outcomes
•more awareness of the role of the library in fostering independent
learning
•methodology and models for productive information retrieval and use
•techniques for helping students learn how to evaluate information sources
critically
•strategies for widening students’ search horizons
•mechanisms for reducing cut and paste and plagiarism
•ideas for developing a cross-curricular programme of information handling
skills
•opportunities to share good practice
