I was never informed how long I should keep the requests but I keep my
records for about 18 months and then they are destroyed. Any queries
after that time... Tough!

Subject: Keeping inter-library request forms
Dear All,
Just a quick query does anyone know how long should we be
keeping request emails/letters for supplied ILL requests? I have had a
claims query from BL about something supplied ages ago (last January)
and when I queried how long we should be retaining the original request
form/letter they suggested that the paperwork could count as financial
data, in which case they should be kept for 6 years. I have to admit
that it had never occurred to me. When we used to return the physical
forms to BL we never had any records left at all after the claim. Now
that we are using the spreadsheet to claim supplied items from BL I
wondered how long other libraries were keeping the paper evidence of the
requests?
Yours sincerely,
