*POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
POST-DOCTORAL ASSOCIATE IN PERSONALIZATION OF INFORMATION RETRIEVAL
*We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to collaborate on the project:
Personalizing the Digital Library Experience, funded by the U.S.
Institute of Museum and Library Services. The position is for three
years, beginning in January, 2008. The major responsibilities of the
position are:
1. development and implementation of experimental interactive
information retrieval (IIR) systems;
2. research in the use of machine learning (ML) techniques for
personalization of IIR systems; and,
3. collaboration with other members of the project team in
conducting experiments and analyzing their results.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to participate in
cutting-edge research in the highly significant area of personalization
of access to information. Candidates should be comfortable working in a
highly interdisciplinary environment.
A Ph.D. in Information Science, Computer Science, or a related field is
required. Knowledge of and/or experience in IIR experimentation, ML
techniques, and IR tools are all highly desirable, as is the ability to
work in multiple operating systems and programming environments.
The Project Investigators are Nicholas J. Belkin, Jacek Gwizdka, and
Xiangmin Zhang, and there will be three Graduate Assistants working on
the project as well.
Salary level is in the range of $40K/year, plus an excellent benefits
package.
