Janet
I've had trouble attempting to post on to the online discussion. In
response to your questions:
1. Is our knowledge of landscape ecology and ecological process sufficient
to apply to planning, enhancing and managing green infrastructure.
2. Can society utilise green infrastructure and create benefit for
wildlife at the same time?
Forest Research are currently undertaking a research project to apply
landscape ecology principles to the urban environment, with the aim of
developing urban green networks for people and biodiversity. The project
is exploring how a methodology could be evolved to develop multifunctional
urban green networks which could be incorporated into the planning process
and identifying current gaps in available datasets.
