Wednesday 5 December
Dr Prue Shaw
(University College London)
Editing Dante's Monarchia and Commedia
joint seminar with the Dept of Italian Studies and the "Text and Cultural Construction" series
Prue Shaw, Emeritus Reader in Italian at University College London, has translated and edited works by Leopardi and Dante, and written on the philosopher Benedetto Croce. Her work on the Monarchia and Commedia combines traditional editorial methods with new techniques of digital data-collection, analysis and electronic publication, including stemmatic analysis using methods from evolutionary biology. Her talk will illustrate this with material from her edition of the Monarchia (published on DVD in 2006) and her ongoing work on the Commedia (scheduled for publication in 2010).
Time: 5.00 pm
Venue: Arts Building, Room 305 (IAA Museum)
