Dear all,
Is anyone interested in joining me to draw on location from observation? I
will start in the New Year on Wednesday, 16th January 2008, in London from
10 am to 5 pm and keep on doing it during those times on Wednesdays for the
foreseeable future.
The idea is to draw - preferably with others - who are interested in working
directly from observation either outside or in one of the indoor spaces such
as the new St. Pancras station etc. I would like us to show and discuss the
work as well as draw together on location. There is no expectation of what
the drawings are 'supposed' to look like. The project is meant as an
investigation, so any experimentation and any result is welcome.
I'm an artist and Associate Lecturer at Central St. Martins mostly teaching
drawing and painting. I draw from observation after a period of abstract
painting, installations and symbolic drawings. I have recently completed an
MA in Art Theory and Aesthetics, which has rekindled my passion for the
particular in our experience of the world. A few key words that describe my
interest are: transcendence in immanence, the universal in the particular,
rendering an equivalent of the experience of being in our surrounds.
Is anyone interested in joining me?
Please email me at my email address instead of responding to the whole list:
