EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT
Transferring Best Practices in eGovernment
7 November 2007  Brussels, BelgiumThis interactive workshop on how
existing eGovernment solutions can be better shared for European
eGovernment will document mid-term findings from the ongoing study on
innovative and adaptive pan-European services for the citizens in 2010
and beyond. It will also focus on 3  cases : Help.gv.at, Solvit and
Easyconnects.

IST Africa 2008
14 May 2008 - 16 May 2008  Windhoek, NamibiaIST-Africa 2008 is the third
in an Annual Conference Series which brings together delegates from
leading commercial, government & research organisations across Africa
and from Europe, to bridge the Digital Divide by sharing knowledge,
experience, lessons learnt and good practice. It will focus on Applied
ICT research topics addressing major societal and economic challenges.
The programme will combine strategic keynote presentations, technical
and policy papers, case studies, workshops, an exhibition and social
activities. It will also showcase results from projects currently funded
at national and regional level in Africa and Europe as well as those
funded under the ICT Programme of the European Commission.
Online submission deadline for full paper or workshop proposal: 09
November 2007 Acceptance decision: 18 January 2008 Final Paper
Submission: 20 February 2008

Economic Participation in the Age of Networking Digital Ecosystems of
Knowledge, Business and Services
7 November 2007  Brussels, BelgiumThe Digital Ecosystem (DE) aims to
provide SMEs with ICT infrastructure and technology to improve their
efficiency and integration into global value chains. It is a systemic
approach to firm's global collaboration based on open-source,
distributed environment of networked services. The DE offers and
transports services (applications) and information (knowledge), through
adaptive technologies and evolutionary business models that empower the
business network and support local and regional development.
During this event, achievements of the first three years and future
perspectives of the Collaborative EU research and deployment of Digital
Business Ecosystems will be presented and discussed.

Privacy Enhancing Technologies: How to create a trusted 
Information Society
21 November 2007  London, UKOn May 2nd the European Commission adopted a
Communication "Promoting Data Protection by Privacy enhancing
Technologies (PETs)" in which it calls for stepping up research in and
development of PETs. In this context, the outcome of this event will be
taken into consideration by the European Commission in its formulation
of upcoming work programmes for funding calls in this area of the
FP7-ICT programme and will influence the direction of future research in
the fields of privacy and technology.
