PRESS RELEASE
Electronic Stability Control to improve safety of trucks and coaches (16
November 2007)The safety of European registered trucks and tourist
coaches will be greatly improved as a result of an agreement reached at
a United Nations meeting in Geneva to equip new vehicles with electronic
stability control systems. Electronic stability control (ESC) avoids
accidents by helping the driver maintain control of the vehicle in
critical situations. It is estimated that equipping these vehicles with
ESC system could ultimately save over 500 deaths and 2500 serious

NEWS ARTICLE
Techno-footprint : ICT and Sustainability in the Public Sector (29
November 2007)Large information and communications technology (ICT)
systems form a significant part of a modern public sector body's carbon
footprint, and all bodies must now work on ways of reducing their
impact. Conversely, ICT systems can play a valuable role in reducing
organisations' wider carbon footprints, for example by reducing the need
for travel through videoconferencing. This event aims to bring together
lessons from best practice in environmental sustainability from across
the field of public sector ICT, and offer practical advice on drawing up
strategies to reduce the carbon footprint of public sector services.
