To promote the participation of women in the Liberal Arts and Natural
Sciences, the University of Groningen offers a prestigious fellowship
program, named after Rosalind Franklin, whose X-ray studies of DNA were
crucial to solving its structure. One Fellowship is available in the Faculty
of Spatial Sciences, especially for women.
The faculty is implementing ambitious plans to obtain a top position in
teaching and research at the European level.
Applicants ideally have:
- a PhD degree
- at least five publications in international, high quality, peer
reviewed journals
- post-doctoral experience of at least two years, preferably
internationally
- teaching experience and qualifications
- organizational qualities and communication skills
Successful candidates will set up their own research project(s) in the area
of Human Geography and will be expected to establish their own research
program and to attract external funding. They will also contribute to the
development of the teaching programs within the faculty.
The fellowship, of at most five years, comprises a salary of at least €
3060, - gross per month (full time position), a holiday allowance of 8%, and
an end-of-the-year bonus of 3 %. The salary and the duration of the
fellowship depend on experience and qualifications.
Following a favourable evaluation after (maximally) five years, the fellow
will be awarded tenure and promotion to the rank of Associate Professor.
After a further five years another evaluation will take place and if this
proves favourable, promotion to Full Professor will follow.

1. your curriculum vitae, including a complete list of publications
2. three self-selected ‘best papers’
3. up to five keywords describing your research area
4. a three-to-five page statement of your research accomplishments (1-2
pages) and your future research goals (2 to 3 pages)
5. a letter of motivation
6. the names of three experts who can be contacted for a letter of
recommendation
