Type 1 is normally a standard subbase material.
It should meet the requirements for Type 1 subbase in the Specification for
Highway Works published by the Highways Agency.

Subject: Imported 'virgin' quarry material.
Dear all,
could I please ask how you treat the importation of so-called virgin quarry
material. In Aberdeen we ask for an appropriate number of validation samples
for all imported material exept 'virgin' quarry material. However, I have
asked for proof of origin and consignment notes. However, I have just
recieved a report that provides no other information than the drivers name
and vehicle etc. and the name of the quarry and material labelled as 'Type
1'. Call me suspicious, but couldn't 'type1' be anything. Shouldn't there be
some sort of analysis sheet with basic analytical info. and some sort of
proof as to what 'type'' actually is???
Any thoughts gratefully appreciated,
Best wishes,
Clare.
