Dear All,
during my hunt for historic material I came across Richard Dickerson's
2005 Book 'Present at the Flood - How molecular structural biology
came about'
It is a personal account based on a smartly commented
collection of key papers in early protein crystallography.
Everything you wanted to read and never found in your library
is in here.
Highly recommended reading not just for the history buff or nostalgist;
also has nice study questions that really touch the fundamentals.
Reads like a spy novel.
Great X-mas stocking stuffer - you can find it (and much more) in my
bookstore.

'The great complexity of proteins makes it unlikely
that a complete structure determination for a protein
will ever be made by X-ray methods alone' -
Who wrote this and ~when ?
