Dear All,
I would be interested to hear from people who have been involved in
digitisation projects about their IPR experiences. In particular, if they
have had to get indemnity cover or insurance against the possibility of
comeback from IPR owners claiming not enough effort was made to trace them.
I hasten to add that this question is being asked not because we can't be
bothered to make the effort; but because we know that in some cases it is
going to be extremely difficult because of the circumstances behind the
material being digitised.
I am aware of advice and guidelines from organisations such TASI and JISC,
and have worked on similar projects in the past. I have also been touch with
Tim Padfield for advice; but would like to hear from anyone who has had to
deal with this particular issue.
